Eating and drinking in Tulum Town – Where, when and what to order

Tulum, while so simple in some ways is complicated in others. We’ve tried to explain it here, but what it means for our food guide, is we’ve divided it up into places to eat in Town and then places to eat by the beach. Hope this helps you decipher where and what to eat  and drink in Tulum.

Taco Cart
There’s a few taco carts around town, generally situated just off the main road on the top of a side street. This one was great. Delicious and provided a good mid-morning snack.

Burrito Amor
Best. Burritos. ever. As the name suggests, this place pretty much specialises in Burritos, but you can get plenty of other stuff from the menu too. Like gauc. They do a fantastic guac too. I ordered the pork and pineapple burrito and of course a Margarita and both were incredible.

Rincon Poblano
While this place is described as a ‘Fish and Chip’ shop on google maps, its a lot more. While maybe it wasn’t the most authentic Mexican food you’ll ever get, it was simple, tasted good and as cheap as anywhere else. The owner was run off his feet and waiting times weren’t that great, but I wouldn’t let this stop you.

Batey Mojito & guarapo Bar
They make their cocktails with Cane Sugar and when you order a Mojito, guess what it comes with to chew on. Love this place, the music, our excellent waitress who taught us a thing or two about tequila, and of course the food. Tacos and Tostadas, Mojitos and Tequila to sip. What more could you want?

El Camello Jr
We tried this place on our final night in Tulum, because the lines the night before made us want in. The restaurant specialises in Seafood apparently, but we just went with simple meat dishes. The food was that. Simple, but still tasty. I’m not sure that I’d queue again, but we didn’t miss out.

And that’s a wrap for the Tulum Town food guide. Head here for the places we ate and drank near the beach.
