5 reasons you should fly with Air New Zealand

This is in no way endorsed or paid for by Air New Zealand, but we just felt like sharing the best of our recent experience on our flight from Auckland to San Fran, en route to NYC. We’re so quick to complain sometimes, but I reckon you should praise a company if they’ve done good. Here’s our top reasons why you should fly with Air New Zealand if you can.

1  The inflight staff
Not entirely what their title is these days, Air Host(ess)? Air Steward? Who knows, but the staff on our flight were on point. Steve the Inflight Manager did a fine job keeping the staff and passengers in line. We appreciated the friendly service and I much prefer being called ‘Darl’ to ‘ma’am’ any day of the week.

2  The safety video
When you’re forced to watch your one millionth and forty ninth safety video, you need something that keeps you awake. Air New Zealand do a good video and even thought I’d seen this one before (the one with the guy from Shortland St and Rachel Hunter), it sure beats the United one we just had to sit through. No offence to your code share partners, but they just don’t have it quite down.

3  The decor
Not entirely sure you can refer to the seats on a 777 as ‘decor’, but for a girl who is all about her monochrome furnishings, I liked it. The pillow and cream blanket were a nice touch and should act as a reminder to other carriers, that navy isn’t so sexy. Black is the new black. 😉

4  The movies (and wine delivery)
So we didn’t actually utilise the home delivery service for wine (this time), but I sat back and enjoyed a couple of movies that I was hacked off that I had missed at the cinema recently. Good work whoever picks the movies, I enjoyed them and have a couple more picked out for next time.

5 Kapiti Ice Cream
So, of all the plane meals I’ve had, this was definitely one of the better ones, and it didn’t even have that plane food smell. You know what I’m talking about. I loved the crackers and cheese, but it was that Triple Choc Kapiti ice cream hit which took out the prize for the best dessert to date. Mainly ‘cos good ice cream makes me happy.

Air New Zealand isn’t always the cheapest option, so we haven’t flown with them too often internationally. But, when timetables permit or it’s just the best option, we take it. Plus, hopefully this trip will add a few Airpoints dollars on our tallies, ready for the next trip.
