A little guide to Chelsea
We quite liked Chelsea and found ourselves in that part of the town a few times, giving us a couple of opportunities to eat the food and drink the drinks. Here’s three places you shouldn’t miss.
1. Citizens of Chelsea
A very cool coffee shops with a couple of Aussies behind the machine, meaning the coffees were good. (Kiwis here if you were wondering). I dig their plants and neon lights and if you’re an indoor plant lover, you will too.
2. Empire Diner
You might recognise this place from Home Alone 2, truth be told it’s why we ventured there. But this Diner is no ordinary diner. The food is way more refined than a diner, as is the service making this place definitely a restaurant. And, also a damn good place for breakfast, one that isn’t a huge stack of pancakes or waffles.
I had the Yoghurt and Granola, Mike had the Avo on Toast (we were told by our waiter this was a ‘light’ breakfast). Mike also had about 4 coffees, which he regretted later. Oh, and we may have ordered the most delightful Apple pie, did I mention that?! It was actually amazing. Just look at it.
3. Chelsea Markets
Cheating slightly in that it’s not just one restaurant. But it’s full of places you can grab a bite or two to eat. We contained ourselves and just opted for sugary goodness from The Doughnuttery. We were disappointed we didn’t find the Bruscetta place we’d been recommended by friends. But hey, it’s good to have your own experiences too.
