Where to eat in Midtown, New York

This Midtown list, from Central Park to 29th St
We were in NYC for a while and ate at a few awesome and very different style places, so we’re gonna have to do this in brief. Then, you can find them on google, save them to your list and find out the yummy details for yourself when you visit. Here goes with Midtown.

The Plaza Food Hall
Underneath the Plaza hotel is a classy, high-endish stye food hall. Who would have known? We ate from one of the patisseries and took the food to go, seeing as though you’re so close to Central Park, you might as well.

Kingside
A bar and eatery near Carnegie Hall. It’s cool and the drinks were good and the small bites were tasty. We actually grabbed a pre-concert bite here when we went to watch Handel’s Messiah at Carnegie Hall – How very cultured of us!? 😉

Bouchon Bakery
After a fairly early start with a visit to the Top of the Rock, we came here for breakfast. If it’s cold it’s standing room only, as all the table and chairs are outside. We got ham and cheese toasted baguettes and our morning coffee and were good to go. A good place for a quick and uncomplicated breakfast or lunch near the busy Rockerfeller centre.

Ess-A-Bagel
We’re including this place, because if you read other blogs you’ll find it on those lists too. But I think you should check out our other bagel suggestions to show you why you don’t need to queue for a good bagel in this town –  just start with Browns (see below). Although Ess-A-Bagel did offer all the flavours, fillings and condiments that you could ever think of, and the Bagels were so huge we didn’t need to eat til dinner time.

Refinery Rooftop
Probably a whole different experience dining on a rooftop in the winter as it’s covered and magical, but we loved the food and atmosphere at this place,  ‘the crown jewel’ of the Refinery Hotel. The Drinks were good and the service pleasant. It may pay to book, but we rocked up and had only a short wait at the bar.

Magic Hour at Moxy
Our hotel during our stay – The Moxy, had a rooftop bar, which was quite convenient really. Very pleasant in the early evening (from 4pm) for a drink in a vibrant setting. If you’re boring like us, make sure you make the most of the quiet time, before it gets more rowdy later on at night.

Browns Bagels
If i wasn’t working my way down from Central Park, Browns Bagels would be at the top of the list. We loved everything about this place. The coffee was good, the bagels were superb, the decor was just how I like it and we loved the service we received. It was even open on Christmas day, making the perfect breakfast for the holiday, pre the Knicks game. Another reason we love New York, is that something’s always open.

The Breslin
This place was a find. A British style gastro pub with what borders on a fine dining restaurant. Not our cheapest meal in NYC, but one of the best. I’d never had guinea fowl before, but I probably would again and their dessert was something to behold.

This is just the start. We’ve also got out three favourite spots in Chelsea listed here for you to check out. Now for 28th St south with a focus on the East Village area and other beautiful places.
