Gili Air, one of the three Gili Islands has a different vibe from Gili T. The island on the whole didn’t have the wow factor for us that Gili T did, but it should definitely still be on your list of places to go as there’s still clear turquoise waters to discover, beaches, good places to eat and drink and time to relax.
It’s well known as a honeymooners destination and we did notice straight away the amount of couples on the island, although not sure if it’s any more romantic than any other places we’ve been.
We were transferred to Gili Air by Scoot Cruises, just a short 10 minute boat ride, on a little boat, an overcrowded little boat, but we made it. Just when we were arriving in started to rain (that’s what happens when you holiday in the rainy season), so we opted for horse and carriage to get to our accommodation. Saves the hassle of reading maps in the rain. Like Gili T, horse and cart and bicycle are the only forms of transport on the island.
We stayed in a Bungalow at Omah Gili, which was more than adequate for our 4 night stay. Located on the right hand side of the island, it had a nice pool, good size rooms and even the outdoor shower had the novelty factor. Breakfast was included and was served in their dining area every morning, which was the only place the WiFi worked. We would probably suggest also looking on the right hand side of the island for a place to stay.
