Gili T, the small island in Lombok, doesn’t generally make you think of fine dining, tasty food or eating out. But, with this many touritst, there’s of course so many bars and restaurants on Gili T, you’re not going to go hungry. Here’s a wrap up of our favourite things and places to eat. I say ‘things’, because our first recommendation doesn’t come with a restaurant name.
Corn
Our favourite food on the island wasn’t a five course meal, or even the local cuisine, but a corn on the cob. Yep, it’s not fancy, but it’s damn good. You can get these for about IDR 15k in Gili T from a couple of guys selling out of carts on the main strip. You can choose from Chilli or garlic butter and both are as good as the other. You have to get one.
Le Pirate Beach Club
The drinks were good and there was a pool.
On our bicycle trip around the island we came across Le Pirate Beach Club. There’s a couple of sister resorts dotted around Bali and the neighbouring islands, but this place on Gili T was like a real life postcard.
Just across from the beach, with cute little white bungalows was the pool area and bar. They’re open to outside guests as long as you partake in the drinks and my word was it worth it. Such a sweet spot, wish we’d stayed.
Warung Warna
This was our favourite warung or restaurant we visited, they offered live music every night, which you were able to enjoy from your seats on the beach. They did a pretty good pizza and the drinks weren’t bad too. We were super happy to finish our evening here off with an espresso martini. There’s lots of these type of spots to choose from.
Crepe and Kebab House
This place was right on our route to the beach and we indulged in the crepes a couple of times. A cheap and cheerful lunch and pretty reminiscent of the crepes in Paris…almost. The Nutella and Banana was our favourite.
If you’re heading to Gili Air after Gili T, then we’ve got some food suggestions for you there too. Check them out here.
